Instructions for Reconstructing Powder Semaglutide

Disclaimer: These instructions are for informational purposes only. Always consult a healthcare professional for proper guidance on handling and reconstructing medications. Improper preparation can result in adverse effects or reduced efficacy.

Materials You’ll Need

  1. Semaglutide powder (as provided in the vial).
  2. Bacteriostatic water (sterile water containing benzyl alcohol to maintain sterility).
  3. Sterile syringe (with a small gauge needle).
  4. Alcohol wipes (for sanitising vial tops and surfaces).
  5. Clean workspace (well-lit and free of contaminants).

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prepare Your Workspace

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Wipe down your workspace with an alcohol-based disinfectant.
  • Gather all materials in the cleaned area.

2. Sanitize the Vials

  • Use an alcohol wipe to clean the rubber stoppers on both the semaglutide vial and the bacteriostatic water vial. Allow them to air dry.

3. Draw the Bacteriostatic Water

  • Attach the sterile needle to the syringe.
  • Draw the required amount of bacteriostatic water. The exact volume will depend on the concentration you need (e.g., 1mg/ml, 2mg/ml, etc.). Refer to the product or prescription instructions.

4. Reconstitute the Semaglutide Powder

  • Insert the syringe needle into the semaglutide vial at an angle to avoid creating bubbles.
  • Slowly inject the bacteriostatic water into the vial.
  • Do not shake the vial. Instead, gently swirl it until the powder is fully dissolved. Shaking can damage the integrity of the semaglutide.

5. Inspect the Solution

  • Ensure the solution is clear and free from particles.
  • If particles remain, allow the vial to rest and swirl again gently. Do not use if the powder does not fully dissolve.

6. Store the Reconstituted Solution

  • Place the vial in the refrigerator (2°C–8°C or 36°F–46°F).
  • Do not freeze. Reconstituted semaglutide is typically stable for up to 28 days when stored correctly, but always refer to the product instructions or consult a healthcare professional for guidance.

Important Notes

  • Use a new, sterile needle for each injection to avoid contamination.
  • Do not use the solution if it appears cloudy, discoloured, or contains particles after mixing.
  • Dispose of used needles and syringes in a proper sharps container.

For any questions or concerns, consult a pharmacist or healthcare provider before proceeding.
