Instructions for Reconstructing Powder Semaglutide
Disclaimer: These instructions are for informational purposes only. Always consult a healthcare professional for proper guidance on handling and reconstructing medications. Improper preparation can result in adverse effects or reduced efficacy.
Materials You’ll Need
- Semaglutide powder (as provided in the vial).
- Bacteriostatic water (sterile water containing benzyl alcohol to maintain sterility).
- Sterile syringe (with a small gauge needle).
- Alcohol wipes (for sanitising vial tops and surfaces).
- Clean workspace (well-lit and free of contaminants).
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Prepare Your Workspace
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- Wipe down your workspace with an alcohol-based disinfectant.
- Gather all materials in the cleaned area.
2. Sanitize the Vials
- Use an alcohol wipe to clean the rubber stoppers on both the semaglutide vial and the bacteriostatic water vial. Allow them to air dry.
3. Draw the Bacteriostatic Water
- Attach the sterile needle to the syringe.
- Draw the required amount of bacteriostatic water. The exact volume will depend on the concentration you need (e.g., 1mg/ml, 2mg/ml, etc.). Refer to the product or prescription instructions.
4. Reconstitute the Semaglutide Powder
- Insert the syringe needle into the semaglutide vial at an angle to avoid creating bubbles.
- Slowly inject the bacteriostatic water into the vial.
- Do not shake the vial. Instead, gently swirl it until the powder is fully dissolved. Shaking can damage the integrity of the semaglutide.
5. Inspect the Solution
- Ensure the solution is clear and free from particles.
- If particles remain, allow the vial to rest and swirl again gently. Do not use if the powder does not fully dissolve.
6. Store the Reconstituted Solution
- Place the vial in the refrigerator (2°C–8°C or 36°F–46°F).
- Do not freeze. Reconstituted semaglutide is typically stable for up to 28 days when stored correctly, but always refer to the product instructions or consult a healthcare professional for guidance.
Important Notes
- Use a new, sterile needle for each injection to avoid contamination.
- Do not use the solution if it appears cloudy, discoloured, or contains particles after mixing.
- Dispose of used needles and syringes in a proper sharps container.
For any questions or concerns, consult a pharmacist or healthcare provider before proceeding.
